Colocation Services provided by

Network Infrastructure

Seventeen years experience designing, deploying, securing, monitoring and troubleshooting

  • Unix-based network applications & services.
  • TCP/IP Protocol Implementations.
  • TCP/IP Networks of all sizes.

Project management for network, services & facilities, as well as service startup and machine room and corporate IT facility relocation.

Experience

Network Design & Deployment

  • Design and implementation of a high-availability Service Delivery Network with redundancy or/and fail-over capabilities at all levels from the physical (power grid and network) to application layer. Provisions made for convenient quick and short-term growth paths utilizing a multi-tiered Netscape/FutureTense/Oracle architecture, with multiple levels of server load-balancing and clustering for performance and fail-over capabilities. Collocation facility selection, evaluation, deployment, including implementation of live and development systems featuring dozens of UNIX servers.
  • Provide technical support to customers on all aspects of TCP/IP internetworking services including: network monitoring & analysis, high performance and highly redundant network infrastructure designs; the deployment and securing of intra/extra/internet services.

Network Operations & Monitoring

  • Provide support to customers (7x24) and field engineers via telephone, Stratus Remote Service Network, and on-location as necessary. Primarily responsible for support of Ethernet & TCP/IP protocol issues, on Stratus proprietary Multics-based Virtual Operating System (VOS) or/and Fault Tolerant UNIX (FTX) operating systems. Also supported Token Ring, NetBIOS, Novell Netware, X.25 and other WAN/async products.
  • Handle all levels of problems: installation, protocol interoperability, programming issues, networking configuration, network traffic or kernel dump analysis to issue resolution.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions on networking product administration and servicing for customers & customer service staff.
  • Novell CNE 3.11 certificated, for Stratus’ FTX Novell Netware server
  • Develop SGMP network monitoring tools and Ingres database applications for network facilities administration.
  • Responsible for administration and operation of various network infrastructure & NOC facilities and services.
  • Liaison to the Telco providers for issues relating to the operation and monitoring of NYSERNet facilities.
  • Define Internet gateway related monitoring goals for the automated network management project.
  • Turn up of data lines from DSO & ISDN to T1 & DS3 lines
  • Responsible configuration of load balancers, firewalls, switch and router hardware
  • Responsible for deployment of various infrastructure services (web, mail, DNS, NTP, DHCP, etc.).

Network Protocols

  • Working in the team porting the Berkeley 4.3t TCP/IP protocol stack to Stratus’ proprietary Multics-based symmetric multiprocessor operating system participated in all phases of product development and release: specifications, code, test, work closely with technical writers, customer service and marketing in the product development and delivery process.
  • Implement host routing based fault-tolerant NIC adapter fail-over, SNMP MIB-compliant network statistics collection, an on-host TCP/IP packet analyzer, netstat and other utilities.
  • Develop test and Q.A. tools for code coverage, bug regression and throughput testing, including procedures and functional specifications.
  • Participate in the product development process: promoting serviceability, interoperability, and the satisfaction of customer requirements.
  • Work in a team porting X.25 to the Butterfly Gateway.
  • Port BBN’s HMP protocol support to the SunOS UNIX kernel.
  • Modify sendmail to implement pen-recorder and wiretap warrants.

Electronic Commerce

  • Deployment of Open Market's Transact in a software-on-demand environment.
  • Actively involved in deployment of Open Market's Transact and related e-commerce products, including the product development and release processes.
  • Responsible for installation and customization of Transact systems at ISP, Telco and enterprise customers in North America, Europe and Australia.
  • Define and implement custom code to support per-merchant branding within the Transact product, as well as a web-managed workflow environment for hosted merchants.
  • Provide technical support on Open Market Internet commerce products, security and networking issues to external customers, customer service, education program development and technical marketing. Investigate fraudulent credit card use, working with our customers, internal hosting and customer service.
